How quickly you hear back
There are two ways to send a case, and they promise different things.
Within a day
Open it to the discipline
Every specialist in that discipline sees it, and the first one to pick it up owns it. Whoever takes it is by definition somebody who is free now — so in practice it is usually within hours.
Two days
Name a specialist
Send it to one person you already work with. You are waiting for that person specifically, whatever else is on their list, so the clock is longer.
Nothing owed
If nobody takes it
The clock starts when a specialist picks the case up, so an unclaimed case is never late — it is unclaimed, you can see that it is, and you can withdraw it for a full refund.
A specialist who cannot meet the turnaround, or who thinks the case is outside their competence, declines it — which refunds you in full and costs them nothing. Declining promptly is what they are asked to do.

Per case, paid when you send it. No subscription, and nothing to commit to.
Full plan
They read the whole case and say what they would do differently, in enough detail to follow.
They undertake to
- ✓ Look at everything on the case — your images, your history, and anything you have already measured or marked up.
- ✓ Tell you whether they agree with your diagnosis, and where they would differ.
- ✓ Tell you what they would do instead, in enough detail that you can follow it.
- ✓ Tell you plainly if they would not treat, or would investigate further before deciding.
Full plan with 30-day follow-up
The full plan, plus questions back and a look at how it went.
They undertake to
- ✓ Everything in a full plan.
- ✓ Answer one round of follow-up questions from you on the same case.
- ✓ Look at any follow-up images or results you add within 30 days, and say whether the plan was achieved.
Prices in US dollars. The specialist keeps 80% of the fee.

Each discipline adds one section of its own to the report — the implant and size for a surgical case, the drugs and doses for a medical one.
What comes back
A written report with the same four sections every time, so you know where to look and can compare one opinion with another. It lands on the case itself, not in your inbox, and stays with the case.
If something in it needs unpicking, ask on the case. The thread stays with the plan rather than scattering across text messages.

What it is, and what it is not
Every specialist on the panel agrees to the same terms before they answer anything. These are the parts that matter to you.
- — It is a colleague-to-colleague opinion on the material you send, not an examination. It creates no relationship between the specialist and the animal or its owner.
- — You remain responsible for the animal, for the decision, and for anything done as a result. A specialist who thinks the case needs referral rather than advice will say so.
- — The specialist will not contact the owner.
- — Your case stays confidential. It is not copied, published or discussed outside Librevet — including in teaching material — without your written permission.
- — They write for a general practitioner. If they use an abbreviation or a technique you may not know, they say what it is.
For specialists
Answer cases when you have the time
Take only the cases you can start on now, from wherever you are. You keep 80% of the fee. Nothing is assigned to you, and declining a case costs you nothing.
You will need board certification, or an equivalent recognised qualification, in the discipline you want to answer for.
Apply to the panelReferral centres
If you run a referral hospital, you can give consults to your own referring vets free of charge, on your own letterhead, with a monthly allowance per discipline that you set.
It is the same tool, pointed at the practices you already work with, and it is a reason for them to send you the surgery.
